Dalia Stonys

July 6, 1942 — March 25, 2021

Dalia Stonys, 78, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, passed away on March 25, 2021. Dalia earned her graduate degree from the University of Detroit and was a gifted Analytical Chemist who proudly worked at the Food and Drug Administration throughout her career. Her passions outside of the lab included ballroom dance, travelling the world, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Daughters of Lithuania and volunteered her time to several civic organizations. Dalia lived her life at the service of everyone who came into it, as a dependable and loving daughter to her parents; a loving mother to her children; a proud and adoring grandmother, fondly known as Mociute to her grandchildren; and a compassionate and devoted friend to countless family, friends, and co-workers. Dalia is survived by her children: Egle, Tauras, Daiva (Justin); and her grandchildren: Aleksa, Alina, Viktor, Sofia, Tomas, and Azuolas; and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juozas "Joseph" and Ona Briedis, and former husband, Linas Stonys. Dalia will be remembered by her family, friends, co-workers, and the Lithuanian American community for the strength and caring she selflessly gave to others, and the faith, warmth, and light she produced to all who knew her. Dalia's wishes were to be cremated and her ashes intered at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. Arrangements are with R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Divine Providence Lithuanian Catholic Church.
