Cynthia Marvoureen Humphreys (People called her Renee) Renee was born on April 9, 1921 in Calumet, Michigan, the second child of Celia and William, (also known as Hogarth), Penprase. Renee and siblings, Deutzia, Bill and Betty (twins) grew up on School Street in Aumeek, Michigan where she graduated from Calumet High School. After graduating she and Deutzia moved to Detroit to pursue employment. They moved into an apartment in Highland Park, then three years later sister Betty joined them, (she had to wait until she was 18). Renee worked at the Chrysler Plant in the office. She bought a home in Detroit where her parents joined her after leaving the Upper Peninsula. She attended Highland Park Baptist Church where she met Barber (Bob) Humphreys. He pursued her and they were married on November 28, 1959. Bob owned Grand Bible and Bookstore in Highland Park. This is where Renee took over the office and worked there until they sold the business. She and Bob were married for 30 years. He passed away on March 1, 1989. Renee has a step son, Bob Gerald, daughter-in-law, Shirley and three grandchildren, Cheryl, Jerry and Scott, and 3 great grandchildren, in addition she has eleven nieces and nephews. Renee lived in Troy for years until her move to Independance Village, where she lived until her death. She had a good life. Many remember her playing the piano in Sunday School classes and helping count the church offering on Mondays. She was a great wife, grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed.
