Betty Lou (Derrick) King was born September 2, 1926 (hallelujah) and died peacefully at her home in Royal Oak Michigan, Thursday November 15, 2018. She was 92. Betty was the only child of William and Marion Derrick, and was raised in Detroit, Michigan. She married David H. King Sr. in 1951 and they had three sons, David H. King Jr. (pre-deceased in 2008), Paul W. King, and John W. King (Lauren). Betty is also survived by her three granddaughters Kelly King, Brittany (Andy) Klenke, and Abbey (Josh) Griffin. Betty lived a life of faith, teaching the Bible to countless students and women for over five decades. She loved people and she loved connecting people to the Bible in a fresh, humorous and urgent way. A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Baptist Church (28600 Lahser Rd., Southfield, MI 48034) on Tuesday November 20th at 11am. The family will greet guests from 9:30-11am before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CareNet Pregnancy Center in Berkley, Michigan or to Walk Thru the Bible Ministries in Atlanta, GA.
